Reading- Students are learning about similes, alliteration, and other forms of Figurative Language. It's fun to see how authors use these crafts to make their stories more interesting!
Writing- We've published our Persuasive pieces and are off to bigger better things... Group Opinion Pieces!!! Today we started working with our table groups to write an opinion piece to draw people together for a cause. It's a big task, but these next four days are going to be exciting... We already got a great start today with plans, research, and a page of writing from each person!
Math- Start thinking of Alligators again... we began discussing Greater Than (>), Less Than (<), and Equal To (=) when comparing numbers. We're also putting sets of numbers in order from least to greatest, using comparing bars (*new), and applying these concepts to 2-step word problems. Good thing we have so many Mathematicians in third grade!
Science- This week, we have learned how to start taking notes on chapters in Science. Students have been writing out Vocabulary, filling in blanks for important information, and drawing/listing examples of new topics. Our focuses have been Physical and Chemical Changes in Matter and Combinations of Matter (i.e. mixtures and solutions)
