Random Acts of Kindness - Our new Character Club trait is "Caring." We are encouraging students to take part in Random Acts of Kindness! Each student has been given a calendar to fill out on their own at home. At the end of the unit, students may complete the summary on the back and return to school.
Reading - This week, we discussed the author's craft of using 3's in Folktales, learned how to use a glossary, and studied how author's use pictures to add humor to stories. We also continued guided reading and are starting ro - Iund 2 of book clubs. Your children are really enjoying choosing the book that they read and discussing it with their friends!
Writing - We're still working away at our information chapter books. Good writing takes hard work! We are learning that revising may not always be fun, but the end result is something we can be very proud of :)
Math - We wrapped up Unit 2 with a test on Tuesday, and are moving on to Unit 3 now. Students will be learning about all sorts of measurements. (See attached Newsletter.)
Social Studies - Through "The Immigration Game" our students are truly grasping what it is like for immigrants to come into our country. We've had some fun and frustration experiencing these conditions through our game!
Fiesta Friday - I'm so glad that we started doing this. Our class is now doing afternoon roll call by stating their class number in Spanish. (Proud teacher!) We have labeled a few things in the room, worked on colors, and are continuing to learn more numbers this week. Muy bien!!
